What Is A Doula and Why Do I need one?
A Doula is a Trained Labor Assistant
Doula's are your primary labor support person. We do not replace your partner's role in labor. We serve you & your family.
Doula's do all the extra things that you do not have time to do. Including cooking, light cleaning, time contractions, get water, get snacks, massages, ect. Anything you need, it is my job to do it for you.
• A doula knows that each mother's birth is special and unique.
• Is educated in the physiological and emotional process or birth, pregnancy and postpartum
• Supports the mother and family through the events of birth and making sure that they are prepared mentally and physically.
• Is a constant attendant to the mother throughout labor, offering emotional, and physical support, offering to give the mother what she needs during her labor.
• Education, doulas offer education resources so parents can inform themselves in making the best decisions for their families.
• Holds sacred space for the mother and her family.
• Birth Arts doulas are trained in privacy, ethics and confidentiality, this is so parents can be assured that their story is protected and held sacred.
Although the word doula has it origins in ancient Greece depicting a household servant or slave of high ranking who assisted women in labor, the idea of servant or slave is antiquated and does not depict the true profession of a modern doula. The modern doula is a women who "Mothers the Mother" offering emotional and physical support to the mother, enabling the mother to have an empowering, gratifying birth experience for her and her family.

But I'm having a C section, Do I still Need A Doula?
YES!!! Absolutely!!! Studies have shown that mothers that have a doula for their c section births have a higher success rate of breastfeeding and a lower rate of PPD.

As your doula, I am your labor servant. I provide emotional, and physical support, I cook, I clean, I do everything you may need. I provide and dedicate my love and my time to you and your family. The time I am with you, I am away from my own family. I need to pay for child care, dinner a few nights, gas, as gas prices are almost $4 a gallon right now. I need to pay for my supplies to help further support you and your family. My time is valuable, and so is you re's. I want to guarantee my time with you is all that it can be and all that you expect of me.
